MERIDIAN —
Due to a tip called in to 911 Central Dispatch concerning a suspicious person, Meridian Police Department patrolmen arrested a man Thursday afternoon.
MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Terreaunce Dejun Clark, 24, of Meridian, was taken into custody and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana. Clark's bond was set at $25,000. According to Lauderdale County jail records, Clark is also being held pending an ongoing investigation.
Harper said a concerned neighbor in the area of 17th Avenue and 19th Street called 911 about a possible suspicious person. When patrol officers arrived in the area around 2:20 p.m. they observed Clark walking along the street. Harper said officers got out with Clark and conducted a field interview at which time they discovered he was a convicted felon and that he was allegedly in possession of a gun and illegal drugs.
Jail records show Clark was arrested in 2006 on motor vehicle theft, burglary and marijuana offenses. The records show Clark was convicted in 2010 on the vehicle theft and burglary charges.
A court date for Clark has been set for March 11.
