Two arrested in stabbing incident

MERIDIAN —     A teenage girl stabbed Tuesday afternoon underwent emergency surgery at a Meridian hospital.

    Ward Calhoun, deputy chief of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, said Wednesday morning the 16-year-old girl was still listed in critical condition. Calhoun said the girl was stabbed in the abdomen several times.

    Arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing are Char'Brecia Stevens, 17, of 1902 Old Marion Road, and Porsha Shire Clark, 21, of Meridian. Stevens and Clark were each placed on $50,000 bond.

    Calhoun said at about 4 p.m. Tuesday deputies were called to Myers Road in the Lauderdale community to a report of a stabbing. When deputies arrived they were told by witnesses the girl who was stabbed was taken to a Meridian emergency room.     

    Investigators located Stevens Tuesday night, while Clark turned herself in to LCSD authorities Wednesday morning, officials said.
