The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council will be hosting a Teen Summit on Crime this evening beginning at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the Meridian City Hall.
The summit will be attended by area teens who will take part in a question and answer session with panelists and visit with youth organizations. The questions that were submitted by Lauderdale County and Meridian youth organizations will deal with the concerns teens have with crime. After the question and answer period, teens will be able to talk to panelists with more specific concerns.
The panel will consist of officials from the city and county, school officials, representatives with the police and sheriff's departments and local judicial officials.
Youth organizations were asked to submit questions to the panel, which will be overseen by moderators Raven Roberts and Chris Cross. The questions were reviewed and the 10 most important concerns as judged by the panelists will be answered. City officials said for those questions and concerns that were not addressed in the question and answer period, teens would have an opportunity toward the end of the summit to have those issues addressed.
The summit will end at 8 p.m.
