MERIDIAN —
Tomarquis Rencher, 21, of Scooba said he is excited about the possibilities a new year holds and is eager to get started.
Rencher, a first semester student in Meridian Community College’s Associate Degree Program, was getting oriented to the college’s program during a session Thursday – a few days before the Monday, Jan. 7, start of the Spring 2013 semester.
“I heard this was a good program … close to home and close to my job,” Rencher, who is a health care assistant, said of why he opted for MCC to further his education. He was one of 127 students who are entering the College’s nursing program this semester.
During the orientation session students were delving into their electronic textbooks to familiarize themselves with the material before classes begin in earnest.
“This is the first time I have used e-books,” Rencher said.
After receiving his associate degree, Rencher wants to further his education and become an anesthesiologist.
