MERIDIAN —
Two people died Thursday morning in a three-car wreck on Highway 145.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the deceased as Veronica Mabry, 61, of Enterprise, and Roger Apperson, 55, of Meridian.
The accident occurred at 7:43 a.m. about 2 miles north of Clarkdale, near New Hope Baptist Church, said MHP Cpl. Andy West, who is the public affairs officer for Troop H and District 6.
The driver of a third vehicle, Laura Hester, was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, but did not appear to have life threatening injuries.
Mabry was traveling north on Highway 145 when her car collided with the two other vehicles, which were both traveling south, according to the MHP.
An adult passenger in one vehicle and children in another vehicle were not seriously injured, according to the MHP.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Clarkdale Fire and Rescue Chief Terry Arnsdorf said there are not many accidents in the stretch of road where the wreck occurred.
"We have very few accidents there," Arnsdorf said.
