MERIDIAN —
William Myles & YPOP (Young People Of Praise) have shared the stage with gospel greats such as Donnie McClurkin, Vickie Winans, Martha Munizzi, J. Moss and the Tri-City Singers.
They have performed on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, in a Verity Records Showcase, and have appeared in several gospel trade magazines.
William Myles & YPOP began as a community based outreach program sponsored by the Boys & girls Club of East Mississippi with 70 members and has evolved into an extraordinarily skilled and talented group.
A William Myles & YPOP CD signing event has been scheduled at the Boys & Girls Club in Meridian, 1717 45th Ave., for Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
A news release received Monday from the Boys & Girls Club of East Mississippi states: "Because these are such serious times, combined with economic hardships, lack of role models and no true guidance is adding to the frustrations of young people throughout Meridian, William Myles & YPOP feels in order to reach 'Generation Y,’ that their performances have to exhibit God’s goodness in an electrifying, yet spiritually uncompromising fashion for God and his message to be embraced. More importantly, the group wants young people to know and understand that living holy and acceptable in God’s sight was not set aside only for our grandparents."
The release also states that the Boys & Girls Club of East Mississippi has partnered with William Myles & YPOP in an effort to help the youth stand for what they believe in when it goes against pop culture, peer pressure, and those things that keep us separated.
