Man injured in Sunday shooting

MERIDIAN —     A shooting on Sunday evening in East Meridian left one man injured.

    According to Lt. Dean L. Harper, chief of detectives, Criminal Investigations Division with the Meridian Police Department, a young man was standing outside his Eastern Gardens Apartment when a vehicle drove up and the occupants began shooting at him.

    "He made a run for it, but was hit once in the lower torso," Harper said.

    The wound was not considered life threatening and the victim was transported to a local hospital.

    The incident is currently under investigation by the Meridian Police Department.

    "We're analyzing evidence we collected at the scene," Harper said.
