One-vehicle, train collision occurs in Lauderdale

MERIDIAN —     A mid-afternoon car-train accident resulted in the motorist being transported to a local hospital.

    The accident occurred in Lauderdale, said Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff Department.

    "One vehicle was struck by a train about 2 p.m.," Calhoun said. "The driver of the vehicle did not have life-threating injuries."

    The incident is still under investigation, Calhoun said.
