MERIDIAN —
The second installment of the Downtown After 5 Alive concert series is scheduled today at Dumont Plaza.
Scott McQuaig and The Tomcats will perform 5-7:30 p.m.
Concessions will be available. There will also be a beer garden and several children’s activities.
Rick Courtney, one of the event organizers, noted the concerts help promote downtown Meridian.
“This is a destination for music. It shows businesses that you can use music to help promote your business. It’s all integrated together — art, culture, business,” Courtney stated in a news release.
More than 20 years ago Scott McQuaig's self-titled album was released with MCA/Universal Records followed by years of touring, and then a break from the road while he continued song writing and playing locally.
A new album, "I'm Still Falling," is slated for release next month. A launch party is scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 10, 6-9 p.m., at the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum, located inside Soulé Steam Feed Works, 402 19th Ave., in downtown Meridian.
The public is invited to celebrate the release of the new album and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment.
