MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department units responded Tuesday afternoon to a two-vehicle collision in downtown Meridian that sent one person to a local hospital with injuries.

According to officials, the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Street and 18th Avenue next to Rush Foundation Hospital. A black two-door sedan was flipped onto its roof as a result of the impact.

Officials said the crash victim in the inverted automobile was temporarily pinned inside the vehicle. The victim was pulled from the vehicle and loaded onto a Metro Ambulance for transport to one of the hospital emergency rooms. There was no word on the extent of their injuries but none were thought to be life threatening.

No one in the other vehicle was seriously injured, said officials.

The street was cordoned off for a short time until cleanup crews and wrecker personnel could roll upright and then remove the sedan.
