MERIDIAN —
During the week of Oct. 8-12, NEW Meridian held a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. NEW hosted several activities, not only raising awareness for breast cancer but striving to make a financial impact for patients battling this disease.
Several activities were scheduled throughout the week including “Silly String the Supes,” an event where agents were able to purchase a can of Silly String and use it on the supervisors, trainers, and even management. NEW also held pizza and bake sale fundraisers.
Pizza Hut on Frontage Road donated all of the pizzas, and NEW employees provided the bake sale items. Prizes were placed on Spin the Wheel, and agents bought spins in hopes of winning the prizes. Finally, a Silent Auction was held for items donated by NEW agents.
The generous people at NEW Meridian raised a total of $1,400 during the week. Most of the money was raised 50 cents at a time. Director of Operations, David Wilhelm, dyed his hair pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness when the original goal of $1,000 was reached.
All proceeds from the events went to the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund at Anderson Regional Cancer Center.
