The City of Meridian will celebrate Independence Day Saturday with fireworks, music, and military aircraft displays.
The city's annual celebration will take place at Bonita Lakes, which provides a reflective backdrop for the fireworks.
Popular local cover band Kabana will kick off the celebration with two hours of classic rock hits beginning at 7 p.m. Other stage festivities will begin at 6 p.m.
Food vendors will be ready to serve beginning at 4 p.m., but families attending the event are also encouraged to pack a picnic. Meridian's L-17 Formation Team will provide Korean War heritage air displays at 6:20 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m.
Because parking at Bonita Lakes is limited, Meridian Transit Service will provide a free shuttle between the Shoe Carnival parking lot at Bonita Lakes Mall to the stage area. Shuttles will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will run again after the conclusion of the fireworks show.

The Drought Is Over
All Mason Irby was hoping for was to find a way on base.
