Traffic swap for Clark County intersection announced

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is announcing a traffic switch as part of an intersection improvement project in Clark County, north of Quitman.

The project is realigning Highway 513 and Highway 145 to improve the efficiency of the intersection.

On Thursday traffic will be switched from the existing (old) Highway 513 onto the newly constructed Highway 513 at Highway 145.

"We are in the last weeks of work on this project," said MDOT Project Engineer Scott White. "The project has taken what was called a 'flying Y' type intersection and corrected the design so that motorists can navigate the highway intersection more efficiently."

The $1.3 million project was awarded to Dunn Roadbuilders of Laurel last year and is scheduled to be completed this summer.
