MACON, Miss. (AP) — A Lauderdale County man has been freed on $15,000 bond after being charged with making moonshine in Noxubee County.
Elbert "Al" Williams, was charged this week with possession of an illegal whiskey still. Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control agents say the still was found near Shuqualak.
Williams, of the Whynot community, has a previous conviction for possession of an illegal distillery in Lauderdale County in 2001.
ABC agents seized a 10-barrel illegal distillery that consisted of a 500-gallon cooker, a radiator condenser, 82 gallons of moonshine whiskey and other related items.
Officials say no date was set pending presentation of the case to a Noxubee County grand jury.
If convicted of a second moonshine offense, Williams could face a maximum of 10 years in prison.
