Hummingbirds feast on the flowers and feeders at the home of Sheila and Sidney Jackson in the Russell community of east Lauderdale County. The Jacskons have a variety of flowers and feeders filled with nectar that attract several hummingbirds that they enjoy watching and photographing. There are more than 300 species of hummingbirds, but only about 16 can be found in North America. In the Eastern and Central United States, almost all of the hummingbirds typically seen are Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds, according to www.bestnest.com. Local hummingbirds will have to wait a few days to get back out as the remnants of Fay continue to drop rain on East Mississippi.
