MPD says runaways found

By Jennifer Jacob / staff writer

Lately, The Meridian Star has been printing an unusual amount of notices about missing female teens.

On April 11, it was 16 year old Jasmine Phillips. On April 4, it was Amanda Hill, a 17 year old. On April 2 and March 26, missing notices were printed for 15 year old Vanitra Hersey and 13 year old Latesha Hopson.

All four of these missing girls have been located, according to Meridian Police Department Spokesman Lt. Dean Harper. Harper said there have been 24 children reported missing this year, and that all but three of them have been found. All the children reported missing were runaways, Harper said.

One of the children still missing is a female who ran away last week, and the others are males who are known to be chronic runaways, Harper said.
