Authorities with the Meridian Police Department are currently looking for a vehicle missing from a Meridian home that they believe is linked to an ongoing death investigation.
MPD Lt. Dean Harper said late Sunday afternoon, “At this point this is a death investigation. We need to locate this car. If anyone has seen it they are urged to contact their local law enforcement agency.”
Harper said the car was a 4-door, 2006 Mercury Marquis, gray in color with a retired military service, Lauderdale County license plate. The plate number is W4563J.
Other sources said late Sunday this car may be the same one missing from the home of a 93-year old man found dead in his home early Sunday morning. According to sources, the elderly man was discovered at about 1 a.m. Sunday when family members concerned about his welfare arrived at his home located at 29th Avenue and 39th Street. When they couldn’t get an answer from inside, they notified patrolmen with the MPD. Upon entry into the home the the man was found dead inside one of the rooms.
No cause of death has been revealed and the name of the deceased has not been released.
Witnesses said a car matching the one currently being sought by MPD authorities is the same one owned by the man found early Sunday morning.
