Sporting Clays reception to be held

MERIDIAN —     Leading up to the first annual Sporting Clays for Character event to help raise funds for the Boy Scouts of America, Choctaw Area Council, there will be a reception held the night before, Friday Aug. 27, at the MSU Riley Center-Studio Theatre for sponsors and guests.

Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served and an auction of items including hunting trips, jewelry, vacations, artwork, guns, outdoor gear, sporting event packages, and lots more will be held. The reception starts at 6 p.m. Dress is executive casual.

The Choctaw Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America serves the youth of East Mississippi and West Alabama. More than 4,000 youth and volunteers in Lauderdale, Kemper, Neshoba, Newton, Clarke and Choctaw (Ala.) counties will receive the benefits of this first ever event.

Nolan Reynerson, who is District Director for the Sowashee/Scott Mountain Districts said sporting clays is an excellent way to entertain and recruit clients, build your staff's morale, or spend quality time with your family while supporting the Boy Scouts of America.

"We are sure that you will enjoy yourself whether you are an outdoorsman, outdoors-woman, hunter, occasional shooter, or new shooter!" said Reynerson.

Reynerson said proceeds from the Sporting Clays for Character help support the Boy Scouts of America, Choctaw Area Council further the mission of Scouting, especially in the low-income areas of East Mississippi and West Alabama. The Mission is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. It is important now, more than ever, to teach young, at-risk youth to serve God and others and to keep themselves physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
