Being the son of a preacher-man is complicated as it means you can bounce from town to town quite a bit.
"I was born in Mobile Infermary in Mobile, Alabama and I've lived three other places besides Collinsville," Smith said.
Moving around to different churches has really made Josh and his family really close over his 18 years of life.
"I love my family. My dad is wonderful. I know I can go to him with any problem, whether it's spiritual or any other kind of problem, and he always helps guide me in the right direction," Smith said. "My mom is also incredibly supportive and my sister is truly my best friend."
Being in a Christian family has been a strong influence in the direction his life is going.
"The most important thing in my life is my savior Jesus Christ who has forgiven me of my sins. I thank Him and praise Him and try to live up to His standards every day," Smith explained.
While Smith keeps his eyes on God, he manages to juggle many other activities.
"I play football for West Lauderdale, I sing in church, and still make time to hang out with friends," Smith said.
Smith is a senior in high school and is focused on collegiate plans.
"Next year I plan on attending either the University of Southern Mississippi or Mississippi College. I would like to at some point to teach history and coach football," Smith said.
Smith also said that if he gets to coach football he sees it as another ministry opportunity.
"In several years I could see myself as a coach and teach young boys how to become real men in Christ through football," Smith said.
