Holiday songs from two choirs and interpretive dance will highlight the annual City of Meridian Tree Lighting ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Dumont Plaza.
Mayor Cheri Barry will preside over the tree lighting ceremony.
Christmas music will be presented by the Grace Missionary Baptist Church Male Choir, directed by Minister Gene Tanksley, and by the Meridian High School Choir under the direction of Penney McLemore.
The Carol Merrell Interpretive Dance Group will perform. To open the event the invocation will be delivered by Dr. Debra Brewer.
The Mayor's Tree Lighting Crew, children of the Parents Circle Support Group, also will take part in the ceremony. Members of the crew include Jessica Smith, Scott Shoemaker, Cherish Wells, Kyle Johnson, Dalton Riley, Grant Goodman, Melanie Gibbs, Chris McKinnon and Alecia Cromwell.
A special feature also scheduled as part of the ceremony will be a presentation by Choctaw Miko Beasley Denson to Mayor Barry.
