Neshoba County General adding beds from H.C. Watkins

Neshoba County General Hospital and Nursing Home in Philadelphia has received Certificate of Need authority for the relocation and addition of 15 long-term care, skilled nursing facility beds from the former H.C. Watkins Extended Care Facility in Clarke County.
The proposed project will not require additional personnel, new construction or renovation of the existing facility.
The total capital expenditure for the project is $150,000.
The Mississippi State Department of Health issues Mississippi's Certificate of Need process to improve the health of Mississippi residents and increase accessibility, acceptability, continuity and quality of health services. It also is meant to prevent unnecessary duplication of health resources and provide some cost containment.
More than 1,400 Certificate of Need applications have been reviewed since the MSDH began administering the program in 1986. Since that time there have been total capital expenditures of about $5 billion.
The next Certificate of Need meeting is scheduled for Dec. 17 at the MSDH offices in Jackson.
