Investigators with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, working off information provided over the last month from concerned residents, have put the stops on a trio of teens who have allegedly burglarized a number of homes in the Valley Road area of the county.
LCSD Chief Dep. Ward Calhoun said Tuesday afternoon the three teens were identified as Dominete M. Tubbs, 17, Charles Montez Brock, 18, and Antonio Brown, 17, all of Valley Road Mobile Home Park. Tubbs and Brock were taken into custody Monday while Brown was arrested Friday. Each of them has been charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of burglary.
"The investigation is unfolding as we speak," said Calhoun from his office in Meridian. "There is a trail we are following and there may even be more people arrested in connection with these incidents and these suspects. We will have to see where the trail ends."
Calhoun said the investigation into these alleged incidents was boosted by continual and credible information coming from area residents. He said steady information about who was doing the burglaries, what they were driving and wearing along with physical descriptions enabled investigators to close in on these three subjects.
Calhoun would not say if the teens were part of a burglary ring.
"When you think of a burglary ring you first think of several individuals who are organized for the sole purpose of committing the crime and getting rid of the items stolen," said Calhoun. "We don't have any indication this was the case with these suspects."
Calhoun said these three people knew each other and allegedly assisted each other in these crimes.
Calhoun said there was no way to know as yet just how many incidents these suspects may have been involved in. Investigators in also in the process of recovering items reported stolen in the area to their rightful owners.
