(4 p.m.) Miss. Power passes needs test from PSC


The Mississippi Public Service Commission has decided Miss. Power has the "need" for additional generating capacity and energy — a big step for the future of the Kemper County lignite coal plant.

Central District Public Service Commissioner Lynn Posey announced the PSC's decision today after last month's hearings.

The next step: a second phase of hearings set to begin Feb. 1.
