(9:54 a.m.) Another murder in Meridian

Last night Meridian police were called to 506 Front Street to a report of shots being fired and found a 27-year old black male dead from several gunshot wounds. Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said the call came in at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The body of the unidentified victim, found in front of apartment C4, has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy. This death follows the shooting death of 29-year old Jerome Hearn of Meridian barely 14 hours earlier. Hearn was found dead from gunshot wounds Friday morning at a vacant house in the 2300 block of 25th Avenue. It is unclear at this time if the two shooting incidents are connected.
