A Clarke County man died Friday night in a mobile home fire that occurred at about 10:50 p.m. at the Valley Road Mobile Home Park outside Meridian.
Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Chief Dep. Ward Calhoun said the victim was Larry Chapman, 46. Chapman was staying in the mobile home that belonged to family members. He was the only one at home when the fire broke out.
Calhoun said volunteer fire departments from Clarkdale, Lost Gap and South responded to the blaze that completely destroyed the structure.
Calhoun said investigators have launched a death probe in connection with the incident.
The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
