MERIDIAN —
Meridian Police Department detectives have arrested a teenager who they said was involved in the July shooting of another teen in Meridian.
Mike Vick, public information officer for the MPD, said Friday afternoon that Henry Gibbs was taken into custody Friday and charged with aggravated assault. Gibbs' bond request was denied because he was already out on a felony bond from a previous incident, Vick said. He didn't reveal what that prior charge was.
Vick said on the evening of July 6 shots were fired in Highland Park in central Meridian. When officers arrived they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Since then authorities have been trying to locate the suspect whom they later identified as Gibbs.
The victim, a 19-year-old male, is still in a Jackson hospital recovering from his injuries. There was no information on his condition.
