One killed in tractor accident

MERIDIAN —     A tractor accident Tuesday afternoon left a young man dead.

Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said the accident occurred in the southeast part of the county around 4 p.m. on property off Linton Road.

The identity of the young man had not been released as of press time Tuesday.

Calhoun said the 13-year-old and his grandfather were working on the property at the time of the accident.

"They were doing something there on the property associated with a tractor," Calhoun said. "It's still under investigation right now. There's no appearance of any kind of foul play. It's a tragic accident."

Calhoun said Tuesday he did not have any details of how the accident happened.
