MERIDIAN —
A group called the James Reed Community Hearing Committee has scheduled a public meeting for Monday at First Union Missionary Baptist Church, 610 38th Ave., in Meridian.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the public is invited at attend. James Reed recently resigned as Meridian's police chief.
Areas of concern to be discussed that the committee listed in a press release include:
• A lack of confidence and mistrust since Chief James Reed's resignation
• The image and message that Chief Reed's departure has sent to the public, particularly youth
• Clarity as it relates to the reason for Chief Reed's resignation
• A relationship that is not adversative with law enforcement
