County authorities searching for robbery suspect

MERIDIAN —     Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department investigators are trying to locate a man who robbed the Shell Service Station and Convenience Store in Toomsuba early Thursday morning.

Sheriff Billy Sollie said the man, described as a slender black male wearing a dark colored hoody, walked into the store at about 5 a.m. and pulled a semi-automatic handgun on the clerk. After getting an undetermined amount of cash from the register, the gunman robbed a customer who walked in the store during the holdup.

"And then he robbed someone in the parking lot before he got in a car and fled," Sollie said.

Sollie said investigators did not have a good description of the car, nor did they have a direction of travel.

Nobody was injured during the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 601-485-1860.
