MERIDIAN —
Five children ages 4-9 years old were transported to a local emergency room Friday following a one car accident on Butts Road that occurred around 6 p.m.
"None of the injuries are life threatening," Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said.
Impaired driving may have been a factor in the crash, but no charges have been filed at this time, Calhoun said early Friday evening.
Butts Road is located between Lauderdale Toomsuba Road and Highway 11/80. The accident occurred near the community Toomsuba.
The occupants of the car involved in the crash are believed to be residents of Lauderdale County, Ward said.
