Woman dies from crash injuries

MERIDIAN —     According to information released Tuesday afternoon by officials with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, a woman who was involved in a head on collision Thursday night has died.

Sheriff Billy Sollie said Beatrice C. Moore, 71, of Russell, died Saturday at a Meridian hospital. Sollie said Moore lived on Russell Mt. Gilead Road near where the accident occurred.

According to Sollie, Moore was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu around 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26, westbound on Russell Mt. Gilead Road near Dees Road, when she collided with a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup. Sollie said the accident occurred in a curve.

Sollie said Moore and the unidentified driver of the truck were both transported to a Meridian hospital. Sollie said the driver of the truck was treated for undisclosed injuries that he deemed non-life threatening.
