MERIDIAN —
A man who is facing multiple sexual offenses against children is back in the Lauderdale County Adult Detention Facility in Meridian after he was extradited Tuesday afternoon from Alabama.
Ward Calhoun, chief deputy for the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, said Dexter Hunter Stone, 24, was back in jail Tuesday afternoon and was attempting to post bond.
Stone was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual battery of a child and one count of lustful touching of a child in connection with an alleged incident. Calhoun said Stone was arrested following an investigation into allegations made Jan. 5 from the parents of a 6-year-old and 10-year-old boy. Stone was an acquaintance of the family and at times had babysat the two boys.
Stone was processed into the jail but posted bond and was released. On Feb. 16 when news of his initial arrest was released, more allegations into inappropriate behavior by Stone surfaced. Calhoun said more affidavits for his arrest were made in his name Tuesday of last week.
"Due to this additional investigation into these allegations, Stone had three more warrants issued in his name," Calhoun said. "
Those new charges were for two counts of lustful touching of a child and one count of sexual battery. Bonds totaling $65,000 were issued with the charges.
Calhoun said once these new charges were filed, investigators tried to locate Stone. But after searching for Stone Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night Stone was still at large. Calhoun said Stone was picked up Thursday morning by police in Livingston, Ala. Stone was held in the Sumter County, Alabama, jail until a hearing on his extradition could be heard by a judge.
Tuesday morning a transport van from the LCSD picked Stone up and brought him back to Meridian.
