MERIDIAN — Rush Health Systems recently presented a $2,500 donation to the Friends of Mississippi Veterans. The State Veterans Board and the Friends of Mississippi Veterans are working on building the Mississippi State Veterans Memorial Cemetery located between Newton and Hickory. The cemetery will provide services to all honorable discharged Veterans, as well as to spouses and eligible dependent children. Pictured are Herman Stegall, senior advisor for Rush Health Systems; Donnie Smith, vice president for human resources and public relations at Rush; Ann Alexander, Friends of Mississippi Veterans secretary/treasurer and Rush Foundation Hospital board member; Jack Winstead, Friends of Mississippi Veterans president; Billy Pierce, Rush Foundation Hospital board member and veteran; and State Sen. Videt Carmichael. Carmichael was the principle author of the bill that was approved to establish the cemetery.
