MERIDIAN —     A man who was arrested Saturday night after leading four law enforcement agencies on a three-county pursuit is now facing a range of charges from three jurisdictions.

    Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said Monday morning that Robert Pierre Hull, 29, of Walnut Grove, will have to answer for charges ranging from assault to felony fleeing in a motor vehicle from Leake, Neshoba and Lauderdale counties. Hull is currently being held in the Lauderdale County jail in Meridian pending further judicial actions.

    Hull is charged with DUI, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Lauderdale County. He is further charged with felony fleeing in a motor vehicle from Neshoba County and assault offenses from Leake County. Hull will be turned over to Neshoba and Leake County authorities in the next couple of days to face charges in those jurisdictions, Calhoun said.

    Calhoun said Hull was arrested on Highway 19 North Saturday night after Hull fled authorities in Philadelphia. Calhoun said Hull allegedly assaulted his girlfriend around 7 p.m. at an undisclosed location in Leake County and brought her to Neshoba General Hospital in Philadelphia for treatment. Hospital officials notified Neshoba County Sheriff's Department authorities who then attempted to take Hull into custody.

    "Hull was sitting outside the emergency room of the hospital in a 1992 Ford Taurus when Neshoba and Leake County deputies arrived," said Calhoun. "Hull, seeing the officers, fled south on Highway 19."

    Calhoun said Hull led the deputies south on Highway 19 and at times the chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. As the pursuit went through Newton County, troopers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol joined in. Lauderdale County deputies were set up at the county line to try and intercept. Calhoun said Meridian Police Department units were staged at the city limits in the event Hull was able to get by county authorities.

    Calhoun said a Lauderdale County deputy was able to deploy spike strips, designed to slowly deflate the tires on vehicles, in order to bring the chase to a halt. Hull, while trying to turn off onto Old Eighth Street Road on three low tires, crashed his vehicle.

    "He tried to flee on foot but a Lauderdale County deputy was able to apprehend Hull in the parking lot of The Flowers Discount Bakery," Calhoun said.
