MERIDIAN —
The Meridian Community College Workforce Development Program announces three upcoming classes: Distribution Training, Forklift Training, and Introduction to Network Cabling — C-TECH Copper-based systems.
The Distribution Training class will be offered on Monday, Aug. 13 through Thursday, Aug. 16 at the MCC Workforce Development Center. Class times are set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is no charge for the class. In the 32-hour program, participants will review general safety, principles of LEAN, quality, powered hand truck operation, and customer order processing.
The courses are designed for those wishing to acquire the skills necessary for jobs in warehousing and distribution. Spaces for the free class are limited.
The Forklift Training class will be offered Aug. 17 at the MCC Workforce Development Center. Class time is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and there is a $70 fee for this class.
The class includes instructions on basic safety, forklift operation, loading and unloading trailers, fueling forklifts and special units. Participants will demonstrate skills learned by driving the forklift and successfully completing a written test before earning an OSHA-recognized certification. This class size also is limited.
The Introduction to Network Cabling class will be offered on Tuesdays starting Aug. 28 through Oct. 30 in MCC Webb Hall, Room 129. Class times are set for 6-10 p.m., and the cost for the class is $115. This 40- hour class covers the knowledge and skills needed to become a certified entry-level technician in the network cabling industry. C-Tech Certifications will be awarded upon the successful completion of the exam.
