MERIDIAN —
The Meridian Kiwanis Club presented an Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) to Carver Middle School in Meridian recently.
For the last three years the Kiwanis Club chooses a local school to present with a defibrillator to be installed on campus.
Carver Middle School Principal Tiffany Plott accepted the defibrillator on behalf of the school, and it has now been installed in the newly renovated gymnasium.
According to the American Heart Association, one in seven people each year suffer from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SAC) and when defibrillation is administered within 3-5 minutes the chances of survival are greatly increased.
The Meridian Kiwanis Club meets at Northwood Country Club every Thursday at noon. The Kiwanis Club offers its support to a number of organizations who's mission is consistent with it's club motto — "Serving the Children of the World." The Kiwanis Club also funds eight partial scholarships each year to Meridian Community College.
