MERIDIAN — Anderson Regional Medical Center has named Ray Humphreys as the new Chief Executive Officer after an extensive search, said Dr. Joe Anderson, chairman of the Anderson Board of Directors.
“Ray Humphreys brings a wealth of experience to Anderson and the board is excited to bring a person with his integrity to the table to carry out our revitalized vision,” Anderson said.
“Amazingly, I am coming full circle to my leadership position at Anderson Regional Medical Center,” said Humphreys, a Philadelphia native. “I was born at this fine facility, and the founder of the hospital, Dr. Jeff Anderson, was the doctor who delivered me.”
Humphreys has served as the chief executive officer of Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville since 2001. He previously served as chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg from 1976 to 2000. Humphreys began his career in health care administration at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg in 1970.
Humphreys and his wife, Michelle, have two children — Dr. Chandler Humphreys, a dentist in Hattiesburg, and Kelley Elizabeth, who was lost in an auto accident in 2006. He is the son of Alta Kate Humphreys and the late Leland Earl Humphreys of Philadelphia.
Humphreys is chairman of the Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Governors. He has served as a member of the MHA Board of Governors, chairman of MHA’s Committee on Legislation, as a member of the MHA Trauma Committee and on the MHA Executive Committee. As a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Humphreys was named Healthcare Executive of the Year in 2004. He received his bachelor of business administration degree from Mississippi State University in 1967 and his master in hospital administration from Mississippi College in 1978.
Humphreys takes over at the beginning of May.
