MERIDIAN — Investigators with the Meridian Police Department Criminal Investigation Division are investigating several armed Robberies that occurred over the weekend.
The first reported robbery was Saturday, around 4:53 a.m. at the Cefco convenience store located at 721 Highway 19 South.
The second occurred on Saturday around 12:32 p.m. at Tobacco World, located at 2440 N. Hills St.
Based on suspect descriptions, Investigators believe that both the Cefco and Tobacco World robberies were committed by the same suspect.
Employees of both businesses describe the suspect as being a black male, 5'8" to 5'10" in height, slim build, with a medium brown complexion. The suspect was reported to be wearing a black hooded jacket with a large circular red or orange emblem on the front, blue jeans, large dark white framed sunglasses, a blue bandanna covering his face, and white gloves with dark possibly black palms.
The suspect robbed the businesses using a large kitchen knife held in his left hand.
Police say the suspect fled the businesses on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money possibly to an awaiting vehicle .
The last reported armed robbery occurred Sunday around 9:43 p.m. at the Dixie Oil Company #1 station located at 730 Front St. The suspect is described as a young black male dressed in all dark clothing with a mask over his face. The suspect was said to have produced a firearm while demanding money from the store clerk.
According to statements the clerk fled the business leaving the suspect inside the store alone, only to find another suspect in similar dress outside the business possibly acting as a lookout.
This suspect fled at the sight of the clerk, towards the Highway Village Apartment Complex. It is unknown where the original suspect with the firearm fled.
Investigators do not believe that there is a relationship between the Dixie station robbery and others.
No injuries were reported during the robberies, no arrests have been made and investigators are still in the process of taking witness statements, reviewing surveillance videos and following up on leads.
