MSO sponsors film for fundraiser

MERIDIAN —     The Meridian Symphony Orchestra will sponsor a showing of the 2012 Academy Award winning Best Picture, "The Artist," on Saturday at the Temple Theater, 2320 Eighth St.

    Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. The event is part of MSO's 1930 fundraiser.

    "The Artist" is set in 1930's Hollywood. The film focuses on the relationship of an aging film star and a rising young actress. Nominated for six Golden Globe awards and 12 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards, the silent movie captured five Academy Awards including Best Actor, Best Director as well as Best Picture.

    David Benson of Meridian also is scheduled to play the Temple Theater's Morton Theater Organ. The lobby of the Temple will be open for refreshments and homemade treats.
