MERIDIAN —
Meridian Police Department detectives are looking into a shooting incident in which a teenager was injured Friday night when he was apparently shot in the leg.
MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the 19-year-old victim was taken to Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian for treatment of the single gunshot wound.
Harper said the shooting occurred at about 7:50 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Second Street and 55th Avenue.
Harper said the victim was shot once in the leg. The victim told detectives he did not see who fired the shot but reports state that witnesses said they saw a white car with two black males inside leave the scene.
