MERIDIAN —
Some Comcast customers throughout Meridian found themselves without service Christmas night and Wednesday morning.
Comcast provides cable television, high-speed internet and phone service.
The trouble, according to Frances Smith, Comcast spokesperson, was due to a "major fiber cut related to the weather."
That major fiber optic cut happened after a building was blown over in the Memphis, Tenn., area Smith said Wednesday, affecting service in South Mississippi, not only in Meridian but in Laurel and Hattiesburg.
She said most of the service was back up about 9 a.m. Wednesday, but that Comcast was reaching out to other customers who may still be having issues.
