MERIDIAN — When it comes to children’s success in school, no one can do it alone. With that in mind, Monday's Meridian Public Schools’ Community Forum is aimed at helping parents support their children's education.
The evening gathering will offer guidance and support around homework, reading, math, communication, working with teachers, and other topics.
"Each school will set up a table/booth with learning stations for parents. They will provide parents with resources and information about their school," said Barbara Kidd, MPSD's media representative.
Elementary schools will perform/highlight their students in some special way during the Community Forum.
There will be door prizes for parents, and the school with the most parents at the forum will receive a trophy. Students from the winning school will be rewarded with a free Jeans Day. They will be allowed to wear their jeans and school uniform shirt; the date will be determined by the principal.
"This is an opportunity for parents with students in multiple buildings as well as the public to see and hear what we are offering the children of Meridian," said MPS Superintendent Charlie T. Kent Jr.
"This is also an opportunity for parents and the community to partner with us and to have a clear vision of where we are attempting to take the district of the community."
