MERIDIAN —
The Meridian Star asked members of the Meridian City Council and Mayor Cheri Barry to share their thoughts about the possibility of entering into another agreement with Randle Jennings for an after school program in light of the fact that the city has pending litigation with Jennings over a similar program that did not come to fruition.
"I wouldn't consider it until his obligation is cleared."
George Thomas, Ward 1
"We're considering the project and we have not made any decision."
Mary Perry, Ward 2
"I would just hope that Mr. Jennings himself would initiate some effort to resolve it himself."
Barbara Henson, Ward 3
"Mr. Jennings came forward and had a great program. The problem was not caused by Mr. Jennings. That program would have helped a lot of
young people."
Jesse Palmer, Ward 4
"The attorney advised us that we not meet with him. It shouldn't have come before us. We cannot do anything and I won't do anything until this matter is corrected."
Bobby Smith, Ward 5
"There is pending litigation, so the attorney has requested that we not get into any kind of agreement. It's not appropriate to get into any contract at this time. I'm certainly in favor of anything we can do to improve the quality of life for our children through extra curricular activities and after school programs."
Mayor Cheri Barry
