MERIDIAN —
Plans are moving forward to change voting locations for some Lauderdale County voters, as a result of action taken by the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors on Monday.
Five precinct changes were proposed by election commissioners. A hearing will be held July 2 to give the public a chance to weigh in on the changes.
Proposed changes are:
• Russell and South Russell will be merged to create a single precinct to be known as Russell with a polling place at the Russell Community Center. Russell Baptist Church will no longer be used for voting.
• Marion and East Marion will be merged to create a single precinct to be known as Marion with a polling place at the Lauderdale County Baptist Association Building. Marion Town Hall will no longer be used.
• Center Hill and Obadiah will be merged to create a single precinct to be known as Center Hill with a polling place at Center Hill Fellowship Baptist Church. Hughes Memorial Foundation Building will no longer be used for voting,
• Precincts known as Number 517 and Number 519 will be merged and combined to create a single precinct to be known as Bonita with a polling place at the Willow Ridge Apartments. Bonita United Methodist Church will no longer be used as a polling place.
• The precinct known as Number 105 will be relocated from the Jaycee Building to Trinity Lutheran Church.
The public hearing will be held July 2 at 9 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room, 410 Constitution Avenue.
