MERIDIAN —
The City of Newton will hold it's popular Loose Caboose Festival this year on Saturday, March 3.
This is the 9th annual incarnation of the festival, which is named for the bright red caboose that sits by itself, or "loose," in downtown Newton and is held each year in early March.
Since it's inception, the festival has been both popular with locals and successful in bringing out-of-town visitors to Newton, drawing 10,000 to the city according to the Newton Chamber of Commerce.
This year's festival will include carnival rides, a kids zone, arts and crafts, a motorcycle show, a classic car and truck show, an antique tractor show, food vendors,
live entertainment, a 5k run and 2 mile walk, and the MBN barbecue competition.
Applications for the barbecue competition, for which winners take home unique handmade trophies, applications for the 5k run and 2 mile walk, and additional information is available on the Web at newtonchamberofcommerce.com.
