MERIDIAN —     A program on at-risk children and discussion about a recent arts show and sale highlighted the October meeting of the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers Club.

Marshia Moody and Amy Hamilton of NFusion X spoke to the group about the program for at-risk children. NFusionX works with youth/young adults and their families to assist them in meeting needs related to education, employment, housing, and wellness as well as social needs. The program's goal is to enhance the working relationship between community partners and agencies.

Members discussed the 28th Annual Homemakers Arts and Crafts Sale held Nov. 3-4 at the Frank Cochran Center.

The Oct. 26, 2012, meeting opened with Judy Harwell, president, welcoming members.

Devotion was presented by Meredith Donald, vice president. The devotion focused on “belief,” Hebrew 4:14. Belief is based upon how we touch the lives of others, Donald said.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lou Ella Limerick, treasurer.

Roll call was conducted by Rellie M. Williams, secretary. Twenty-two members were present.

The club was informed that MHV membership dues for  2013 is $6; dues must be paid by Dec. 1.

           Club officers provided refreshments.

The next MHV meeting will be held Nov. 15, and will feature a presentation on holiday ideas by the Lauderdale County Extension Service staff. Nominations for club offices also will be accepted at the meeting.
