Lawrence Community Club

MERIDIAN —     Tim Mowdy shared his love for trains and the railroad system with members of the Lawrence Community Club at the club's Nov. 1, 2012, meeting.

    Mowdy's presentation include a brief history of the beginning of the railroads in 1860.

    The meeting opened with a devotional reading from Deuteronomy 7:13, members were asked to comment to the question: "Among all the blessings this Thanksgiving is there one special you are extra thankful for?"

    During the business session, the minutes and financial reports were read and approved as read.

    Nominations for 2013 are: Elaine Moss, president; Mildred Pace, vice president; and Wardene Mason, secretary and treasurer.

    Mason was selected as Outstanding Club Member and Moss, Outstanding Citizen.

    It was announced that 11 bags of newspaper were delivered to Meridian Animal Shelter.

    Guests were Mrs. Tim Mowdy and Sielpecse Briely.
