MERIDIAN —
Baskets for members no longer able to attend meetings were prepared at a July meeting of the Causeyville Community Development Club.
The baskets were filled with "happies" members gathered throughout the month. While the gifts were meant for others, members found assembling them an enjoyable. The task was an end result of the club's June meeting.
That current meeting opened with a devotion from Lamentations 3:22-23, which reminded members of the importance of remembering God’s “love…compassion…constancy.”
Following the reading of the minutes/financial statement during the business meeting, plans were discussed for gathering and delivering school supplies for the United Way’s Stuff the Bus project.
Also, newspapers were collected for delivery to the local animal shelter. JoAnne Culpepper closed with prayer/grace, and everyone adjourned to the group’s traditional July ice cream social.
Many things make spring and summer special, among them playing in community ball games. A special hats off to the young people and adults who have been involved and worked so hard at Causeyville this year.
Patriotic observances included Flag Day in June and Independence Day in July. The club recently received a new American flag from Woodmen of the World.

Homemade plant tags give gardens personality
Like many home gardeners, I used to put plants in my landscape without worrying about labels because I was sure I’d remember what was planted where. And like most of you, I would end up scratching my head wondering what I had planted where.
