MERIDIAN — The West Lauderdale Competition Cheer and Dace teams were named state champions in four areas of competition at the 2009 Mississippi High School Athletic Association State Cheer/Dance Competition.
In the dance portion of competition, the team was named State Champion in 4-A Jazz and Pom divisions. They were also named Overall State Champion in 4-A Dance. In addition, in the cheer portion of competition, the team was named State Champions in the 4-A Large Division. For the second consecutive year, West Lauderdale High School was the only school in the state to win overall state championships in both cheer and dance.
