I, for one, take exception to Mr. Dave Ramsey's comments (Sunday, Aug. 17 column) on what type of home to purchase. It seems as though Mr Ramsey still lives in the days of poor folks living in "trailer" parks, or poor trash. He along with the majority of "Real Estate" groups will do anything to hurt the Manufactured Housing business as well as the reputation of manufactured home owners.
All manufactured homes built today must pass HUD codes, passed by the federal government. Trailers are the terminology for hauling cattle, hogs, etc. Today's Manufactured Homes far and exceed the homes of even 10 years ago.
Manufactured housing plants provide thousands of jobs, billions of dollars of business and salaries, affordable housing for hundreds of thousands of people, who do not believe in investing $90-$120 per square foot into a home that is built with less quality, less lumber, and overpriced.
Today's Manufactured Housing, in most cases, have more board feet of lumber than the same square footage offered in site built homes, for less money. The doublewide, triplewide, modular and singlewide will maintain or exceed their value when placed on homeowner land and cared for properly.
I live in a manufactured home and have for over 20 years, and find it affordable, durable, and a great investment for my needs.

Here’s my view!
I spoke at the last Meridian City Council meeting concerning pay for city employees. My intent was to inform the council that many city employees are not being paid equitable salaries. The clerk of the council and other city employees deserve to be paid a competitive salary.
